Facts About Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, also known as CUHK (SZ), is a joint partnership between the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shenzhen University. It was established in 2012 in Shenzhen through the Chinese Ministry of Education. Its goal is to develop strong academic cooperation between the two regions.
The university campus is located in the Longgang District in the northeastern part of Shenzhen where it is surrounded by forests and mountains. It is also accessible, being only 15 kilometers away from downtown Shenzhen and about 30 kilometers from CUHK in Hong Kong. The campus was originally the site of the cultural park of Universiade. Close by are supermarkets and a shopping mall, which makes living in the area convenient. The local government intends to develop the area into an international academic center and CUHK-Shenzhen is its first member.
It follows the collegiate system that offers various degree-granting programs. Students enjoy various learning opportunities in its colleges: Shaw College, Diligentia College, Muse College, and Harmonia College. Moreover, students and faculty members from various cultural backgrounds live and learn together through formal and informal activities. These colleges uphold whole-person education, which means students can explore their academic and personal interests as well.
Formal programs are offered in its schools as well. The university covers various areas of interests in their Schools of Science and Engineering, Management and Economics, Humanities and Social Science, Data Science, Life and Health, Medicine, and Music.
