Facts About Télécom Paris
Télécom Paris, formerly known as École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, is one of the top engineering schools for general engineers in Paris, France. Founded in 1878, it is a grande école, or a French institution for higher education, that focuses on digital technology learning, and engineering research. It aims to develop its students to “innovate in today’s digital world.” It offers customized education and training programs on its two campuses, one in Paris and one in Sophia Antipolis.
It is recognized as a premier research institution in digital sciences by the High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education. It was awarded the Carnot Télécom & Société Numérique label for its research program, which spans six areas of expertise at the European level. These include digital innovation, mathematical modeling, digital trust, design-interactions-perception (real-virtual), very large networks and systems, and data science and artificial intelligence.
With a robust global reach, Télécom Paris has forged over a hundred partnerships with reputable universities across the world. The student population is predominantly international students in both its campuses. It maintains close relationships with business organizations to help guarantee good employment prospects in all industries.
Télécom Paris is a member of Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT), the top association of engineering and management schools in France. IMT is recognized as the leading French provider of massive open online courses in the fields of Engineering, Programming, Telecommunications, and Digital Technology.
It is also one of the authorized application schools for the École Polytechnique, a highly respected and selective elite university in France. This allows Télécom Paris students to graduate with a one-year specialization of their own choosing.
This school has four departments or “laboratories,” namely, the Department of Economic and Social Sciences, the Department of Electronics and Communications, the Department of Signal and Image Processing, and the Department of Computer Science and Networking. The first department is affiliated with the French National Centre for Scientific Research, which is France’s state research organization and is the largest fundamental science agency within the European Union.
Its facilities aside, the university’s Paris-Saclay campus also provides students with many housing and dining options adjacent to Télécom Paris. It also has its own restaurant and a cafeteria.
Those seeking to study at Télécom Paris have two options to get admitted. The first is via Concours Commun Mines Ponts—a selective entrance examination that is taken once an applicant has completed at least a couple of years of preparation under the Classes préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles curriculum (after completing high school in Tunisia, Morocco, and France). The second is via an application-based admission process, specifically from universities abroad.Read Less...
