Based in Italy, the University of Bergamo (UniBG) is a public university known for its multidisciplinary curriculum and high graduate employment rate. This has led to steady growth in student enrollments since 2012. The school also has more than 280 international agreements to boost its research initiatives and has a program that supports aspiring entrepreneurs.

UniBG is organized into eight departments which cover disciplines like Economics, Social Sciences, Foreign Languages and Cultures, Law, and Communications. It offers around 18 undergraduate degrees, 23 master’s programs, and seven doctoral degrees. Students who intend to study multiple disciplines can choose from the school’s eight double degree courses. UniBG’s most exceptional courses are Engineering, Law, Education, Psychology, and Economics.

Research in UniBG is centered on its eight facilities whose covered fields include Linguistics, Visual Arts, Aviation, Education, Economic and Social Dynamics, and Territorial Studies. UniBG has three campuses found in strategic areas of the Bergamo Province. The university is home to several historic buildings, which include the former Sant’Agostino monastery, Montelungo barracks, and Baroni college, and a competitive athletics program. With many of its facilities scattered throughout the province, students have direct access to Bergamo city’s special features.

Founded in 1968, UniBG was once the Institute of Foreign Languages and Literature. The institution gradually expanded as its established respective faculties for economics and engineering, which led it to be renamed to the University of Bergamo. UniBG has since been involved in the restoration of historic structures and industrial development in the Province of Bergamo.

As of 2020, UniBG serves as the home to more than 23,000 students, 350 teaching staff, and 230 technical and administrative personnel. Its career placement program offers more than 3,000 internships in public and private companies while its entrepreneurial initiatives have yielded approximately 36 filed patents, 31 business startups, and 11 research spinoffs.

Meanwhile, the university has a good number of distinguished alumni and professors. Its notable alumni include Liliana Segre (Italian senator), Emanuela Casti (geographer), Giulio Centemero (politician), Paolo Cesaretti (historian), Gianluca Bocchi (philosopher), and Riccardo Venchiarutti (journalist).

UniBG has always believed that it is a half-written book, with the other half to be written by its learners through its initiative to pick up new knowledge and achieve new goals. As such, the university fosters a community for sharing and cooperation among learners, educators, and researchers.
